Real Madrid letting Achraf leave a bad omen for other impressive loaned stars

Image
With the player's agent, Alejandro Camano confirming in March that the Moroccan international will return to parent club, Real Madrid after his two years loan spell at Borussia Dortmund end this summer and his client is ready to play for (the best team in the world) Real Madrid. It appears the 21year old will be afforded no chance to play for the team whom he has been with since 2006 as reports suggest a move to Inter Milan is imminent. Hakimi Achraf, who has been impressive this season, contributing to 19 goals across all competitions for BVB, is ranked one of the best players in the BundesLiga and the UEFA champions league. His abilities defensively and contributions in attack will see him slot easily into any team but not in Real Madrid by the look of things. Achraf made no secret, his intentions to represent Los Blancos but seems the club are not intending on giving a chance to any of his loaned stars. His counterpart in Madrid, Dani Carvajal has not been in t

Rival delayed the inevitable as Liverpool held in the Merseyside derby

Image
The Reds were held to a scoreless draw in the Merseyside derby on their Premier League return after Everton showed a spirited performance. Liverpool endured a frustrating return to the premier league as they could find a breakthrough before the full time whistle at the Goodison Park. Andy Robertson was not in the squad while Mohamed Salah and Gini Wijnaldum were benched, the former due to lack of match fitness. Liverpool's best chance in the first half falls to Roberto Firmino who was unable to get his shot on target from the edge of the box. The best chances of the games went to Everton as Tom Davis struck while Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison forcing big saves from Alisson. Injuries to James Milner and Joel Matip ruined the plan to bring on Mohamed Salah in the later stages of the match but The Reds will be the happier of the two teams to come away with a point. The result means Liverpool are now 23 points ahead of Manchester City with eight games to spare

Real Madrid displace Barcelona at the top of La Liga with win over Sociedad

Image
Real Madrid capitalize on Barcelona's goalless draw in Seville with a win over Sociedad at the Anoeta to return to La Liga summit. Goals from captain Sergio Ramos and Karim Benzema was enough for Los Blancos to see off Sociedad and retake control of the league after losing the top spot to Barcelona before the suspension of matches. Sergio Ramos put Real in from with a 50th minute penalty after Vinicius was tripped in the area and VAR review sees no reason to overturn the referee decision. Ramos was replaced soon after scoring by Eder Militao due to an injury in the 60th minute after getting caught by Sociedad striker Isak, minutes earlier. Karim Benzema then doubled the lead in the 70th minute before Mikel Merino scored seven minutes from normal time to spark a nervous ending to the clash but Real held their nerves to see out the match with a win. Real Madrid set to capitalize on Barça slip and return to La Liga summit

Barcelona could not find a breakthrough in their clash with Sevilla at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan on Friday night and had to settle for a point. The result means a win for Real in tonight's trip to Sociedad will see them leapfrog the Catalan club to the top of the league standings due to a better head to head against Barcelona. Madrid beat Barcelona 2-0 at the Camp Nou a week to the last match before suspension of games, only to lose 2-1 at Betis and allow Barcelona regain top spot. Los Blancos will be looking to avoid a shock result this time as the match against Sevilla is just one of the few games Barcelona is expected to drop points in their remaining fixtures. Both club still have Athletic Bilbao in their respective remaining games while Barcelona will still host Atletico Madrid at the Camp Nou, a clash expected to have a big say as to where the title will go this season. Real Madrid welcomed Marco Asensio back to the squad in their win against Valencia

From Arsene Wenger to Emery to Ljunberg to Arteta! Where has it gone wrong for Arsenal

The gunners endured another horrid afternoon at Brighton as the home side come from behind to snatch all three points. On the back of their mid-week 3-0 loss to Manchester City, the gunners conceded a late winner to Brighton who have not win in the league since the turn of the year. The London club started the match brightly but lost goalkeeper Bernd Leno to injury in the 36th minute when he collided into striker Neal Maupay and had to be carried off on a stretcher. Pepe gave Arsenal the lead in the 68th minute but Lewis Dunk equalises for Brighton seven minutes later before Maupay ensures tmThe Gunners leave empty handed. The injury to Leno added to the growing list of casualties at the club as Granit Xhaka and Pablo Mari also had to leave the pitch in mid-week loss at the Ethiad. Guardiola confirms Leroy Sané will leave Manchester City this summer

Image
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has confirmed that German winger Leroy Sane will not extend his contract at the club. Guardiola said: "Leroy said he doesn’t want to extend his contract. If he wants to leave and it is going to happen this summer or at the end of the contract." "The club talked to me a few times, he rejected his contract so he wants to play at another club." "I think everybody knows and if at the end of this season an agreement can be found he will leave, if not he will leave at the end of his contract." He continued "I’m disappointed of course. When we make an offer to a player, it is because we want him. We tried before the injury, we tried after and it was rejected. “I said many times we want players who want to play with this club and commit to try to achieve our targets but of course we respect him. “He’s an incredibly nice guy. I love him so much. He’s educated, a nice family. I have nothing against him but he de

Arsenal contract decision the biggest of my career

Image
Arsenal Striker Pierre-Emrick Aubameyang says the decision he has to make on whether signing a new contract with the club or not is the most important decision he has ever had to make in his career so far. The Gabonnese told French football programme Telefoot: " I haven't had an offer recently, but I did speak to the club quite a few months ago, and the know why nothing has happened yet." "It's a turning point in my career and I want to be honest with everyone." "They [Arsenal] have the keys. It is up to them to do their work and, after that, we will see how things go. It'll certainly be a very difficult decision to make." He added. Reports suggest Barcelona and Inter Milan are interested in the former Borussia Dortmund man who has scored 61 times in 97 outings for the London club since 2018. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta stated in March that he wants to keep the player "under any circumstances" and the club must come t

An upgrade on Paul Pogba! Manchester United given green light to sign star Midfielder

Image
Despite reports that surfaced in January that Spanish giants Real Madrid have agreed personal terms with the Midfielder, it appears the Premier League will be Donny Van De Beek's destination. When denying any agreement with Madrid, the 23-year old said: "It makes no sense, I can't control what people say. I think it is premature. I have often said: I will not hurry; I am fine here. If it happens, it happens." Real Madrid have been linked with a number of Midfield players with one of their top targets being Manchester United's Paul Pogba while United are also interested in luring De Beek to the Old Trafford stadium. The Premier League side do have a host of Midfield players, boasting the likes of Paul Pogba, Scott McTomminay, Fred, Matić among others but bringing in De Beek to the squad will surely improve United's play should The Red Devils get the deal done for the Netherlands international. De Beek is a utility player who can play anywhere in t

David Luiz joins Ramsey and Özil on growing list of Arsenal's incompetence

Image
Ahead of the 2019/20 season last summer, Arsenal were in need of a central defender after ex captain Laurent Kocielny's decision to quit the London club. The Gunners were linked with moves for Leipzig's Dayot Upamencano and Juventus'Danièle Rugani but could not complete the deal for either due to their respective clubs refusal to sell. Arsenal did sign William Saliba from Saint Étienne but the Frenchman could not team up with Unai Emery's men due to the condition of the transfer that the defender spend the 2019/20 season at the French club. With time running out and the club becoming desperate to get a defender on their squad, Emery identified David Luiz as a quick fix for The Gunners defensive shortage and a deal for was tabled for the then Chelsea man.
