Never meant to work under Ole but United in a dilemma of not getting into another déjà vu

Manchester United hierarchy have finally accepted that to achieve success, you have to let go of the emotional attachments. A manager like Ole Solskjær was never worth being at the helm at such a club, maybe being a club legend was the only reason he was there to start with. (Photo by Charlie Crowhurst/Getty Images) Never had anything on his CV to be deserving of such a seat, given the pedigree of the managers who had come and gone since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013, the Norwegian could be the worst of them. Of course it was in 2013 that the problem had started. Not only because of Fergie’s retirement but the fact that Manchester United had planned no successor and only choosed someone, David Moyes, based on the leaving manager's recommendation. It was evidence that

On the back of a 2-0 defeat in the Manchester derby the last time they are in action, a lot of things are going on at the club, with players looking to move away due to lack of playing time. Jesse Lingard in particular could be leaving the club in January. The defeat to City dropped them to sixth on the log, overtaken by an Arsenal side that lost their first three games of the league season. They head into the kickoff knowing they will temporarily move back to fifth with a win, prior to the Gunners late kickoff at Anfield layer in the day. At the same time, a loss could see them drop as low as 13th after the completion of the matchday, depending on results elsewhere as just three points separates sixth from 13th. Liverpool this weekend play host to Arsenal at the Anfield Stadium looking to bounce back from a couple of recent disappointing results in the league, which saw them drew one and lost one in their last two games before the international break. The break came at a very good time for the Reds to have a refreshed team after the struggles against West Ham United and Brighton. The results made them slip from second position to fourth, now just a place above their opponent this weekend. Arsenal are having a very good run and are now 10 games unbeaten, winning eight of them and have turned their worst start to a league season after three games to one of their best start in recent times. The win against Watford in their last game was the first time they have won a league game at home in November, since 2017. However, every next game seems to be tougher for the Gunners and so far, they have been able to withstand the every test they have come up against. Liverpool away from home means things do

Premier League teams who should capitalize on Saúl failed move to Chelsea

It was surprising for a Chelsea side stacked with more than enough Midfielders moving for the 26 years old on a season long loan with option of a permanent offer, which will see Atletico Madrid receive an amount in the region of £40million. However, who could question the motive of an ambitious team adding quality players to the ranks. It was deal envisioned to be fruitful but it was not meant to be. Not helped with his performance on his debut for Chelsea, more chance is not really afforded in a league where the competition is intense and there is no room for error. Moreso when there are players who are already used to the system. With the likes of N'Golo Kanté, Jorginho, Matteo Kovacic, Ross Barkley and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Thomas Tuchel have more to accommodate than to keep trying the Spaniard till he finally gets up and running. Undoubtedly a really good player,

Liberia-Nigeria: Another bush-league showing that exposes Rohr incompetencies, alarming impending disasters ahead of major tournaments

After their 2-0 over Liberia on Saturday, courtesy of penalties in either half converted by both Victor Osimhen and Ahmed Muss, the unexciting Super Eagles of Nigeria now need at least a draw in their game against Cape Verde to book their spot in the final round of the African World Cup qualifiers. Super Eagles Coach, Gernot Rohr (Gettyimages) It was once again another poor display by the Gernot Rohr led side as the fear amongst Nigerians continue to grow as to whether this team can go past the final rounds of the World Cup qualifiers if they did make it out of the group. Moreso, should Nigeria qualify for the World Cup proper, will it not be a repetition of what happened just over three years ago in Russia ? The Super Eagles were so sloppy and let their opponents, ranked 150 by FIFA, dictate much of the play. Nigeria Cape Verde on Tuesday in Nigeria and avoiding a defeat will mean they are through to the final rounds of the qualifiers. But to what end for a country blessed with talent
