It was a dream start for ABG as they kickstart their campaign in the NAAS Freshers’ Cup with a narrow win over HRT in an eventful and evenly contested game at the FUNAAB Sports Center this morning.

The boys from COLANIM (ABG) drew the first blood as Segun put them in from from a free-kick in the first minute of the game.

Four minutes after going behind, the Department of Horticulture we're back on level terms as praise made his way into the area to connect to a through ball and fire past the Goalkeeper to restore parity.

The first half went on with Department of Horticulture getting much of the possession. As they push forward for a lead for the first time in the game, forced the ABG Goalkeeper to an error, earning his a yellow card.

However, a mix up at the back would cost them later in the half as another foul conceded on the edge of the box was punished by Segun, who again showed his prowess from set-piece and restored side's lead four minutes from the break.

Losing at the break, HRT started the second half in good spirits and their dominant display paid off with another Free-kick inside the box after another Goalkeeper error. This time, a combination of good defending helped ABG survive a real scare.

Both sides grew into the game as the half proceeded but no one could fashion another goal in the half as ABG held on to win and make away with all three points.

The result means COLANIM picked up their first win of the tournament while COLPLANTS remains without a win after the likes of Soil Science and Land Management (SSLM) and CPT failed to win yesterday.
