Emma Raducanu confirms end to her season following surgery

Former US Open winner, Emma Raducanu has confirmed she will no longer be involved in any competition this year as she has decided to take time off and fully recover ahead of 2024.

The 20-year-old Brit has endured a tough spell since her surprising run in 2021 US Open Championship, where she won the title as a Wildcard, not losing a single set on her way to becoming the youngest Grand Slam winner since Maria Sharapova in 2004.

Raducanu, who underwent surgery on both her wrists in May had missed the French Open, Wimbledon and US Open this year and has completed ruled out participation in any championship this year.

Talking to the BBC, Raducanu said, "Next season I'll be back. This season all the slams were finished so it was difficult to watch them go by but I was trying to stay in my lane as much as possible and keep focused on my recovery."
