Mbappe in no man's land as Haaland leads the way in CIES top ten most valuable players
The International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES) has today, Tuesday published a list of the top 100 most valuable players in the world of football.
The top ten on the list comprises of young players, none of whom has reached 25 years of age. Amongst the criteria for valuation is the period left on current contract, which can influence a player's worth.
Here is the rating and worth of the players top ten most valuable players in the world
1. Erling Haaland
The Norwegian only joined Manchester City last summer and has so far enjoyed a stellar debut campaign with the domestic double winners, who are also on course to win a treble.
Haaland, who City contract runs until the summer of 2027 is world's most valuable player at €245 million.
2. Vinicius Júnior
Real Madrid wideman has come of age and has graduated to become one of the best in the world. Moreso, the departure of Karim Benzema this summer means the Brazilian is now the face of the club's attack.
At €196 million, Vinicius is second most valuable player and his contract in Madrid which is set to be renewed will see him tied to the club until 2027.
3. Bukayo Saka
Having just signed a new contract that sees him commit the next four years to the club, Arsenal's Star Boy, Bukayo Saka is third most valuable player in the world at €195 million.
Tempting an Englishman away from the Premier League is not easy and with Arsenal looking to finally return to the company of elites, Saka could be at Arsenal for much longer, and maybe achieve legend status.
4. Jude Bellingham
Jude Bellingham is one of the few on this list that is about to get a move away from their current club, who will be getting paid big time in the process.
Although this valuation does not take in accordance some terms that are negotiated in agreement signed by the player, which could add to or reduce the transfer fee.
The Borussia Dotmund midfielder, at €190 million is the fourth most valuable player in the world. Let's see how much it costs Real Madrid luring him to the Bernabeu.
5. Rodrygo Goes
Not one of the players to always make the headlines but last season birthed a different fortune for Rodrygo, hence we was able to make a case for himself amongst the top young players currently.
Although his known contract ends in 2025, there's affirmation that the Brazilian has signed an extension until 2028, an agreement which could be announced later this summer.
Rodrygo is fifth most valuable player with €185 million worth.
6. Pedri Gonzalez
One of the brightest players on the list, Pedri has a contract until 2026 with Barcelona and he has been ranked the sixth most valuable player in the world.
The Spaniard has received a valuation of €178 million, which places him ahead of teammate at both club and country, Gavi.
7. Pablo Gavi
Current golden boy winner, Gavi is seventh most valuable player in the world at €174 million having just been registered by Barcelona as a first team player.
His contract runs until 2026 and at a very young age of 18, more to the reason he has such a huge worth.
8. Jamal Musiala
Recently scored the most important goal in the 2022-23 Bundesliga season to help Bayern win the title ahead of Dortmund in final matchday, Jamal Musiala is ranked eighth most valuable player of this world.
The German, who turned 20 in February is valued at €170 million, making him the second most expensive player in the Bundesliga. He could be the most valuable in no time once Bellingham completes Madrid switch.
His Bayern contract, signed earlier this year ends in 2026.
9. Phil Foden
Manchester City man did not really have that consistency this season due to injuries but hugely play his part when called upon by Pep Guardiola and could end the season as a treble winner.
Foden is world's ninth most valuable player at €167 million, making him the second Manchester City player in the top ten.
Foden is a homegrown player for Manchester City and even though his contract ends in 2027, it is easy to see him seeing out that period and signing several extensions.
10. Kylian Mbappé
Easily the best player in the world of football these days and one could wonder why the PSG forward is placed tenth on a list he should he number one.
However, the fact that Mbappé has a year left on his current contract at PSG means the club will have to compromise in their demands if they want to get anything from selling him.
Mbappé is valued at €163 million, completing the list of the top ten.
