DAY FOUR: Captain Spicy sends ANP FC into the quarters while Hell Boys hopes now hanging on a thread as Mariners FC and Incredibles FC exit the competition

ANP FC becomes the first team to qualify for the quarter finals in the ongoing HF WORLD’s Exquisite Soccer Gala in the wake of their win over Hell Boys as they maka it two wins from as many games in group D.

Despite being the least rated team in the competition due to the concentration of players from 100 level and of the same department, Department of Animal Physiology, no one gave then a chance at the start of the competition but I guess the lesson has been learnt now after the completion of matchday two games.

Captain of the side, Spicy beat the Hell Boys goalkeeper from a free-kick early in the second half of an evenly contested game to send his side through. He becomes the first player to score from a direct free-kick so far in the competition.

ANP FC, despite missing their goalkeeper and had to play an outfield player in goal, Hell Boys were no much of a threat going forward although, they were clearly the better side up to the moment their opponent went ahead in the game.

ANP FC made it two wins from two and progress from group D but they still have so much to do to emerge as winner of their group as they faces a more stronger opponent in Comrade FC in their final group game.

Comrades FC egde a wastful Incredibles FC to move closer to booking a place in the next round thanks to Temee goal in the second half giving them a 1-0 win over the now eliminated Incredibles FC.

Incredibles FC will now be playing for the culture when they take on Hell Boys in the final game of the group later on Thursday while for their opponent, it is a must-win game and they will also be hopeful that ANP FC beat Comrades FC for them to be able to qualify for the next round.

In group B, Mariners FC failed to show up and honour their game against the Ultimates Stars and it was a walk over in the first kickoff of the day and Ultimate Stars were awarded a 3-0 win to move them to four points from two games.

The other game in the group produced no goal as Exceptional FC were held to a goalless draw by Smarts FC, who won 6-0 over Mariners FC in their first game.

Smarts FC continues to lead the group on four points, as many as Ultimate Stars but with the better goal difference. All three teams can still qualify from the group except the Mariners FC who has officially been eliminated. All to fight for on Thursday as the three teams better for two tickets for the next round in group B.
