Heartbreaking: 26year old Premier League Midfielder announces retirement from football due to his health

Southampton Midfielder Samuel McQueen has been forced to retire from football at the age of 26 after rupturing his ACL in his right knee in 2018 while playing for Middlesbrough against Crystal Palace.

The recurring infection meant that he required additional surgeries and the player, who made his senior debut in 2014 has not played since then.

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhüttl had said in 2021 that it will be a miracle for the player to ever return to playing again and player, on the first day of 2022 has now announced his early retirement from the game.

The English man, who had been with Southampton since the age of eight spent time on loan at Southend United and Middlesbrough, making 54 professional appearances and scored three goals in his four years of playing and seven as a professional.
