Carabao Cup quarter final draw as Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool discover who they face in December

Arsenal, Chelsea, Sunderland, West Ham United, Tottheham Hotspur, Brentford, Liverpool and Leicester City all booked their place in the quarter finals of the Carabao Cup this season after seeing off their respective opponents in the just concluded round.

Arsenal beat fellow Premier League club Leeds United by two goals to nothing thanks to goals from Calum Chambers and Eddie Nketiah at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night.

Chelsea enjoyed a shootout win over Southampton on the same night after it had ended one all at full time with Che Adams striking two minutes after the restart to restore parity for the visitors after Kai Havertz late header before half-time.

Theo Walcott and Will Smallbone missed for Southampton while Mason Mount missed for Chelsea and Reece James scored the spot kick that proved the winner for Chelsea to progress to the quarters.

Sunderland earned a famous win over Championship side Queens Park Rangers by winning 3-1 on penalties after it finished goalless in normal time. Lee Johnson side continues their impressive run in the competition.

Tottheham Hotspur beat fellow Premier league club, Burnley at Turf Moor courtesy of a lone goal scored by Lucas Moura in the second half of the game.

Brentford got the better of Stoke City thanks to first half goals from Sergi Canos and Ivan Toney. Romain Sawyers pulled one back for the host but that was all they got as Brentford held on to a 2-1 win.

Manchester City's bid for a fifth consecutive Carabao Cup success was brought a an end in the hands of West Ham United, who progressed on penalties after the game ended goalless. Phil Foden missed before Said Benrahma scored the deciding kick to give the host the win.

Nothing to separate Leicester City and Brighton & Hove Albion at full time after four goals, two for each with Harvey Barnes, Ademola Lookman, Adam Webster and Enock Mwepu all on target.

Leicester City won 4-2 on penalties after missed by Neal Maupay and Enock Mwepu with Ricardo Pereira’s kick proving the winner.

Liverpool beat Preston North End away from home thanks to goals from Takumi Minamino and Divock Origi in either half to secure a 2-0 success to continue their unbeaten start to the season in all competitions.

In the quarter finals, Arsenal been drawn against Sunderland in a game that will be played at the Emirates while fellow North Londoner Tottenham Hotspur face off against West Ham United at home.

Chelsea take on Brentford away from home and the last one, Liverpool play host to Leicester City.

Quarter final games will commence on the 20th of December.
