Sergio Busquets highlights Barcelona's crisis as pressure intensifies on Koeman

In the aftermath of their 3-0 loss to Benfica in the UEFA Champions league game on Wednesday, the Spanish Midfielder has backed his manager, admitting there is more to Barca struggles than just the manager.

The loss has intensified the calls for the manager to be dismissed and players, in the likes of Sergio Busquests and Frankie de Jong have come in the open to voice their support for the manager.

Speaking in a post match interview, Sergio Busquets said; “We were not good, neither in defense nor in attack.

“We reached the opponent's area a lot, but it was useless. When we moved forward, they took advantage of the situation and scored the 2nd and the 3rd.”

“The team was quite good, we created a lot of chances but we failed to put the ball in the back of the net.”

“We have to move forward, we have to be positive and think about the next matches. The truth is that we are in a tight spot.”

Asked if the manager was responsible, he said; “In the world of football, the easiest thing to do now is to fire the coach, but we are all responsible and we have to take responsibility.”

Dutch Midfielder Frankie de Jong had also admitted that sacking the coach is not the solution, and Ronald Koeman maintained he has his players backing.

Speculations continue to circulate that the manager is soon to be shown the exit door with either of Roberto Martínez and club legend Xavi Hernandez his touted replacement.

  1. It is really easy for the fans and board to talk about the manager not been good enough.. However, have we had a look at the players paraded by the club? Are these players good enough? Are they world beaters? The problem runs deeper than just the manager. It is more than what we see on the pitch
