Africans to watch out for in The 2020-21 UEFA Champions League
Patson Daka
22years
Centre Forward
Red Bull Salzburg
Daka, a Zambian chosen by Salzburg to replace the incredible Braut Erlin Haaland who was sold to Dortmund.
Daka has been phenomenonal since he took over from Haaland, replicating the young Norwegian's numbers for Salzburg.
Its little wonder that most top English club are vying for his signature with the likes of Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester United expressing their interest in the striker.
At 22, the Zambian international has a staggering record for Salzburg;
• 52 games played
• 45 goals
• 14 assists
• 79 mins per goal contribution
And to show the testament of his attacking prowess, in just six games he has played this season (413 minutes), he has registered nine goals and six assists (27.5 mins. per goal contribution) which include two important goals in the UEFA Champions League qualifier to ensure Salzburg's participation in the competition this season.
Enock Mwepu
22years
Defensive Midfielder
Red Bull Salzburg
Another Zambian at Red Bull Salzburg this season, Mwepu works like a machine, never gets tired, always running, relentless pressing and great ball-winning ability.
Mwepu was brought in to replace Antoine Bernede following the later's long term injury and he has cement the spot as his own. A great gem any club looking for a defensive Midfielder should be on the lookout for in this season's Champions League
Mohammed Kudus
20years
Central Midfielder
Ajax Amsterdam
Mohammed Kudus is a Ghanian and plays for Ajax in the Eredivise.
An Ajax fan said; "ever since De Jong left we are yet to see a technically gifted player like him until we signed Kudus this summer..."
With just three games with his new team, Kudus has shown he has what it takes to be a success. His technique coupled with his dribbling ability makes him a classy central midfielder, very efficient on the ball and a very good ball distributor.
He looks the player who will follow in the path of Frenkie De Jong and Van De Beek in sealing a big move away from Amsterdam.
Archaf Hakimi
21years
Full back
Inter Milan
Hakimi has always been a bright prospect right from his days at Real Madrid, and deservingly won African young player of the year in 2018.
Competition at Madrid saw the Morocco international being loaned to Bundesliga outfit Borrusia Dortmund where he had his major breakout.
Many had question his defensive ability, as he is a full back who has eye for attacking return a lot and goals but right now Hakimi plays in a system that fits him well at Inter Milan's Antonio Conte 3-5-2.
Now he can concentrate more on his attacking game and in just three serie A game this season, Hakimi has two assits and a goal to his name. Definitely tip to be one of the great full backs in the game.
