BundesLiga: Game-week 27 preview
The BundesLiga returns this weekend after an exciting weekend of football it present us the last time out.
The German topflight becomes the first of the Europe's top five league to return to action after the Coronavirus triggered break.
Top guns Bayern, Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen returned with big wins while Leipzig were pegged back at home by Freiburg.
Norwegian striker Braut Erlin Haaland scored the first BundesLiga goal in over two months, notching home a low cross from Thorgan Hazard 29 minutes into their match with Schalke, as 27goals was recorded in nine matches played in the restart weekend.
Week 27 kick off this weekend on Friday night when Hertha Berlin, who beat Hoffenheim 3-0 away on their league return host Union Berlin. Berlin had a decent outing against league leaders Bayern Munich but could not help losing 2-0 to the Bavarians.
Borussia Monchengladbach host Bayer Leverkusen in the biggest match of this weekend. Both teams return with big wins last weekend with Gladbach beating Frankfurt 3-1 while Leverkusen thrash Werder Bremen 4-1 on Monday night.
Another match to watch out for is Dortmund away at Wolfsburg. Dortmund won the reverse fixture by three goals to nothing back in November last year and will not risk losing this one as a loss will allow chasers like Gladbach to overtake, Leipzig to go level on points with them and Leverkusen to closing in to just one point if they all secure maximum points in their respective matches.
Hoffenheim, without a win in their last seven outings, (D2, L5) travel to Paderborn, who have also failed to register a win in their last seven games drawing twice and losing five. The battle to avoid relegation is all their is left for Paderborn, who sit at the bottom of the league table with just 17 points from 26 games.
However, a win for them will take them off the bottom if Werder Bremen fail to win in their travel to Freiburg.
High-flying Bayern Munich host Frankfurt in the last match of Saturday. The Bavarian have won 15 of those last 16 official games and are unbeaten in 16 with only Leipzig earning a point against them in a goalless draw back in February.
It will be tough to see Frankfurt get anything from thing one as they have lost their last three games and have no win in their last 13 games at the Alianz Arena.
On Sunday, Schalke host Augsburg while Leipzig will be looking to bounce back from last weekend's disappointment when they travel to Mainz before Koln host Fortuna Dusseldorf in the final match of the round.
