Bayern back with a bang as Mainz salvage a point at Koln.

Robert Lewandowski's 40th goal in all competitions this season and a Benjamin Pavard's late strike sees Bayern to a perfect BundesLiga return.

Lewandowski gave Bayern the lead with 40 minutes played, dispatching a penalty after Neven Subotic was penalized for a foul on Leon Goretzka.

With 10 minutes of normal time left to play, Pavard guided home a Joshua Kimmich taken corner kick.

The Bavarian have now re-established their four points lead at the top of the BundesLiga standings after Dortmund reduced it to just one with a win of their own yesterday. Berlin however, remined in the 13th position after Frankfurt missed the chance to overtake them yesterday.

In the other match, Mainz came from 2-0 down to salvage a point at Koln in the first kick-off of the day.

Mark Uth and Florian Kainz gave Koln a 2-0 lead before Taiwo Awóníyì and  Pierre Kunde both scored in under 12 minutes to tie the clash. It ended 2 all as neither side was able to find the winner.

Koln missed the chance to go level on point with Hoffenheim while Mainz missed the opportunity to overtake Augsburg and Frankfurt to go level on points with Union Berlin in 12th position.

Werder Bremen host Bayer Leverkusen on Monday in the last fixture of the BundesLiga game week.
