Chelsea ; wanted it all, took it all, and now have it all
Failure to plan is the first step in the direction of failure but for Chelsea, who has completely written themselves an opposite story this summer, there's no better way of achieving success.
The overhaul was thought would be a reason for the club to continue languishing in the unfortunate situation they found themselves last season but an expertly orchestrated summer business has seen them rather upgrade the ranks.
The upgrade is unbelievable as youth players, arguably best in their respective positions have joined this summer.
In six months, Chelsea let off almost the entirety of the squad that led them to their Champions League success in more than two years ago in Lisbon.
That fact is actually a contextual. The reality of the situation is that many of these players were no longer whom they used to be.
The club finished 12th in the league last season and not even one of the many players stood out. It was always going to take something extraordinary to have Chelsea back at their best in the near future but if the deals this summer are to be gone about, Chelsea is back.
Bigger and better ? We will still have to wait and see how the young ones get on once the season starts in full flow and the games start coming in thick and thin.
Chelsea : a prospect that excites
First season of Mauricio Pochettino as the club's Manager, the Argentine can count himself really blessed with the crop of players he will be working with.
Starting with the midfield, where the real element of excitement is. Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, three of the most highly rated youngsters in the game at the disposal of one manager.
Only in Real Madrid can one find such and for a Chelsea side who had just lost Jorginho, N'Golo Kanté and Mateo Kovacic, this new set is more of an upgrade rather than replacement or consolation.
With due respect to the former Chelsea players, they were class in their prime but were not as decisive in their final seasons at the club.
Injuries, lost forms, age factors and all that played against them contributed to their degradation prowess but the reality for Chelsea is that the new set of players will contribute more to their project, process and future.
Iaan Maatsen, Andrey Santos, Carney Chukwuemeka, Lesley Ugochukwu, Conor Gallagher and Cesare Casadei are also reliable options as backup for the club going forward.
Chelsea has spent hundreds of millions on attackers, though many of them has struggled so far at the club, the arrival of these top midfielders could help unleash the hidden and inactive potentials in these attackers.
Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku have shown no signs of hangover since their arrival before the unfortunate injury, which will see the latter miss months of action on the sideline.
Mudryk, the most expensive attacker at the club for now, aside Romelu Lukaku, whose future is still undecided. Ukrainian star has also showed glimpse of his best in pre-season and had a cameo to be proud of in the opening weekend draw with Liverpool.
The manager and the Chelsea are setting up a good and positive environment for every player in the squad to thrive. It can only get better with time.
The defence has also seen the arrival of some very good prospects. Since last summer, Wesley Fofana, Benoit Badiashile, Axel Disasi have all joined to make up both qualities and numbers in the heart of the clubs defense.
Malo Gusto has been added, as competition and backup to Reece James, who has not had an injury free season for a while now.
Though Chelsea could not get their season off to a winning start, it was obvious which side is better between themselves and Liverpool on Sunday - and now Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia will team up with the squad.
The time is right to be optimistic as Chelsea has made themselves one of the sides to watch out for this season, too bad they won't have a chance to show Europe what they've got but their time will come. It certainly will.
