WIMBLEDON DAY THREE: Djokovic led the way to victory while toothless British duo Murray and Raducanu bow out

DJOKOVIC TAMES THANASI

Novak Djokovic sealed an expected win over Thanasi Kokkinakis in Center Court to book a place in the third round in Wimbledon.

The top seed took the game 6-1, 6-4, 6-2 to set up a third round meeting with his countryman, Miomir Kecmanovic who defeated Alejandro Tabilo in four sets, taking it 7-6, 7-6, 3-6, 6-3, recording his best run in Championship.


TIAFOE GETS A CHANCE FOR REDEMPTION VS. KUBLIK

Frances Taifoe continues his run in the Championship with another straight sets win, this time over German qualifier, Maximilian Marterer.

The American won 6-2, 6-2, 7-6 to equal his best run in Wimbledon and setting up a third round meeting with Alexander Bublik, who beat Serbian player, Dušan Lajović.

The Russian-born Kazakhstani player won in straight sets thanks to two tiebreakers. It finished 7-6, 6-2, 7-5

Kublik came from a set down to beat Tiafoe in Eastbourne earlier in the month and the American will see this as a chance to get his revenge.


JOHN ISNER DOWNS MURRAY TO SET UP SINNER CLASH

John Isner has sealed progression into the third round after a sealing a routine win over two time Champion, Andy Murray.

The American won the tie in four sets by a score of 6-4, 7-6, 6-7, 6-4 and will face Jannik Sinner in the next round.

Italian star, Sinner defeated Swedish star, Mikael Ymer in four sets, taking it 6-4, 6-3, 5-7, 6-2.


ALCARAZ CONTINUES TO FLOURISH

Spanish youngster, Carlos Alcaraz progresses into the third round in Wimbledon following a commanding straight sets win over Tallon Griekspoor of the Netherlands.

Oscar Otte awaits in the next round. German star, Otte qualified after his second round opponent, Chris Harrison was forced to retire in the first set.


GOFFIN SHOWED HUNGER AS HUMBERT HUMBLES RUUD

David Goffin sealed an impressive win over a better seeded Sebastian Baez of Argentina to seal progress into the third round in Wimbledon.

Baez seemed to have no answers to the questions asked by the Belgian, who took the match 6-1, 6-2, 6-4 to seal a third round meeting with Ugo Humbert.

Ugo Humbert sealed an impressive win over top seed Casper Ruud. Despite taking the first set, Casper was well beaten in the next three rounds by the spirited French.

3-6, 6-2, 7-5, 6-4 it finished in favour of Humbert, who moves a step closer to equalling his best run in the Championship back in 2019.


NORRIE OVERCOMES ADVERSAIRE TO SET UP JOHNSON

Norrie Cameron was made to work for his win against Spanish player, Jaume Munar who was no where to be found in a set that could have won him the match.

Norrie took the first set 6-4 while Munar took the second and the third 6-3, 7-5. However, Norrie showed great hunger to win the next two sets, 6-0, 6-2 to equal his best run in Wimbledon.

Steve Johnson stands in his way of going one better in the Championship following the American’s straight set win over Ryan Penitson in the second round.

Johnson won the match, 6-2, 6-3, 6-4 to also move one step closer to his best run in Wimbledon, back in 2016 when he reached the fourth round.


RIJTHOVEN EARNS RIGHT TO FACE BASILASHVILI AFTER UPSETTING OPELKA

Tim Van Rijthoven advanced to the third round in Wimbledon for the first time to record his best run in the competition with a win over Reilly Opelka in four sets, which saw three tiebreakers.

Rijthoven took the first set 6-3 while Opelka won the second after a tie breaker, taking it 7-6. The Dutch star then won the next two via tie breakers, 7-6, 7-6 to earn the right to face Nicoloz Basilashvili.

Basilashvili won all three tiebreakers in a four set to beat Frenchman Quentin Halys to equal his best run in the Championship, which he achieved back in 2015.

It finished 7-6, 0-6, 7-5, 7-6 to the Georgian, who won fewer points than his opponent.

It is the first time Rijthoven and Basilashvili will face off and it will be interesting to see who makes it into the next round.


LUCKY VESELY AND PAUL PROGRESS 

Tommy Paul eases into the third round with a comfortable 6-2, 6-4, 6-1 straight set win over Frenchman, Adrian Mannarino.

He faces Jiri Vesely in the third round. Vesely won the decisive set via a tiebreakers in a five set game against Spanish player, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina where it finished, 6-3, 5-7, 6-7, 6-3, 7-6.

GARCIA HUMBLES RADUCANU

US Open winner, Emma Raducanu has been bundled out of the Wimbledon following a 3-6, 3-6 straight set loss to Caroline Garcia.

Garcia will meet Chinese star, Zhang Shuai in the third round. Shuai defeated Ukrainian star Marta Kostyuk 7-6, 6-2.


OSTAPENKO EASES INTO BEGU

Jelena Ostapenko sealed a 6-2, 6-2 straight sets win over Yanina Wickmayer to progress into the third round where she will meet Irina-Camelia Begu.

Begu secured a 6-4, 6-4 straight set win over Elisabetta Cocciaretto to equal her best Wimbledon run by reaching the third round for the third time.


KERBER SAILS ON

German top seed Angélique Kerber secures a routine win to book ticket to the third round with a 6-3, 6-3 straight sets win over Magda Linette.

The 2018 champion will learn her third round opponent after the conclusion of games on Thursday.


PARRY FACES JABEUR IN THIRD ROUND

Diane Parry will meet Ons Jabeur in the third round in Wimbledon after sealing a 6-3, 6-2 straight set win over Mai Hontama.

The 19-year-old reaches yet another Grand Slam third round after achieving the feat in the French Open last month before losing to Sloane Stephens.

Her third round opponent, Ons Jabeur comtuines to rise following another straight set win over Katarzyna Kawa in the second round.

Still in search of a first Grand Slam title, Jabeur will be counting on his form to propell him to glory in Wimbledon but first, she'll have Diane Parry to take care of on Friday.


SAKKARI SCALES THROUGH

Former world No.3 Maria Sakkari is through to the third round following a 6-4, 6-3 straight set win over Viktoriya Tomova on Court One.

Tatjana Maria, who upsets Sorana Cristeasa in three sets following a decisive tiebreaker to win 6-3, 1-6, 7-5 and equal her best Wimbledon run awaits the Greek, Sakkari in third round.


RISKE OVERCOME CHWALIŃSKA

31-year-old American, Alise Riske came from a set down to beat Maja Chwalińska of Poland 3-6, 6-1, 6-0 to continue her run in this year's Championship.

Awaiting her in the third round on Friday is Marie Bouzková, who reaches the round for the first time following her commanding 6-0, 6-3 straight set win over Ann Li.


OTHERS

Jule Niemeier, Kaja Juvan, Harriet Dart and Lesia Tsurenko all earned victory on Wednesday.
