Gabriel Jesus, how the anticipated Brazilian's arrival would impact the setup and define Arteta's tenure

Mikel Arteta finally have his man for £45 million on a five year contract.

It's been long coming all summer and the fact that Arsenal pulled off this transfer without Champions League football to offer shows they are actually smoking something good at the Emirates.

Despite reported advances from Milan and Tottenham Hotspur, both who play in the Champions League next season, Mikel and Edu were able to convince the Brazilian their project is best suitable for his style.

It's a win-win for all three parties involved as Arsenal's priority is Jesus and the player seems himself heading for a place where he will be more needed.

Manchester City also looking to offload due to the arrival of Erlin Haaland and Julian Alvarez.

The 25-year-old might not have been considered a cornerstone in the City setup since arriving from his childhood club of Palmeiras in 2017 but it is understandable since only a few player can be regarded as such.

Even without those considered the undisputable in the team, Pep Guardiola side still get on rather fine without them and Gabriel Jesus is one of the reasons for the later.

Has always been there whenever called upon and has been lauded several times by his Spanish manager, who never failed to stress how important each player's contribution to the team's success.

Jesus scored 95 goals and registered 46 assists in 236 Manchester City games, which summed up to 14, 267 minutes, averaging a goal contribution every 101 minutes in his five years and a half stay.

He also enjoyed a trophy laden spell at the Ethiad, winning eleven silverware including four Premier League crowns, and could have gotten even better but for the Champions League final loss to Chelsea in 2021.

Style of play

Jesus is a very versatile attacker who can and has been deployed on several positions in attack. He can play anywhere across the front three, as a false nine and behind the No. 9. He can also play as an attacking midfielder.

He might not have amassed as many goals as many of the prolific strikers to have graced the league but only two players, Arsenal legend, Thierry Henry and his ex- Manchester City teammate, Sergio Aguero have better non penalty goal contribution ratio per 90 minutes than him.

Both Henry and Aguero averages 0.91 non penalty goal per 90 minutes, only 0.01 better than Gabriel Jesus.

It is also interesting to know that he made 99 starts in the Premier League for Manchester City in three different positions. His 78 as the main striker produced 40 goals and 14 assists.

Starting upfront makes him utilize his deadly prowess in the box to the maxim. All of Jesus’ 58 Premier League goals have come inside the box.

15 starts on the right win produced nine goals and eight assists while he made six further starts on the left wing of attack, producing four goals and one assist.

Starting on the flanks brings his pace, dribbling, creativity, good movement and finishing to work.

Gabriel Jesus has a 66.6 percent dribbling success rate in his Premier League career — the highest among all 26 players with at least 40 goals in the competition since the Brazilian made his Premier League debut.

He has registered 30+ chances created in each of the last three Premier League seasons, averaging a chance creation every 59 minutes.

Jesus has been praised for being one of the best pressing strikers in the world and that is one of the quality that is required in the Mikel Arteta's system, visibly lacked by both Aubameyang and Lacazette.

Aubameyang is obviously not the pressing kind of striker while Lacazette is not helped by his lack of pace even though he still show more willingness than Aubameyang.

Eddie Nketiah scored two goals at the Stamford Bridge last season due to his persistent pressing, and Jesus will also arrive at the Emirates with this ability, much to the delight of Arteta and Arsenal.

Joy to Arsenal attackers

Being a very versatile player, Jesus' arrival is good news for all the Arsenal current attackers because his presence is not a direct threat to anyone in particular.

Once a player is able to keep up with good and consistent performances, it is unlikely to lose their spot to him because Arteta could choose to field his man elsewhere.

Eddie Nketiah in particular must be buzzing with the Jesus arrival. Albeit he comes after Jesus in the pecking order, it will be much to his relief to learn that he can coexist with the Olympic gold medalist.

The improvement of quality in the Arsenal attack will also improve the over all and individual performances of the players.

Delight for Mikel Arteta

The Spaniard is able to sign his top priority which is a boost for any manager. Arteta had worked alongside Jesus while at City and the fans can get excited as to what the duo could achieve with this reunion.

Jesus is possibly one of the few names that could fit well into the current Arsenal setup on personality and being of the right age is another complement to what is cooking in North London.

He is Premier League proven and doesn't attract much media hype, something Mikel Arteta seems to have troubles managing as evidence with Mesut Özil and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Not much is expected of Marquinhos but Fábio Vieira and Gabriel Jesus certainly add to the Arsenal attack next season with the Gunners also working on Raphinha from Leeds United.

William Saliba, Matt Turner and Auston Trusty are some of the players expected to also represent the club next season while it is still uncertain to tell the futures of Hector Bellerin, Lucas Torreira and Pablo Mari, they are not expected to be at the Emirates.

Exciting times for Arsenal, who will be hoping their side finally re-establish themselves back amongst the best in Europe next season with a top four finish and probably the Europa League crown.

Aside Raphinha, Arsenal continue to be linked with Lisandro Martinez of Ajax and Leicester City's Youri Tielemans and it will be exciting to see how many more incoming at the Emirates before the end of the transfer window.
