Liverpool cruising like Champions but City have to do their bit to deny the Reds a second league success in three years

Liverpool move to the top of the Premier League Standing after their commanding 4-0 win over Manchester United on Tuesday night but with the advantage still with Pep Guardiola’s City, the defending Champions must hold on to that in their remaining games.

Manchester City host Brighton at the Ethiad this evening looking for a victory to reclaim the number one position on the league summit with the season approaching its climax.

City, who fell out of the FA Cup in the semi final to Liverpool last weekend in a 3-2 loss at Anfield watch as The Reds that never walk alone dismantled their city rivals, United to go two points above them in the race for the league title this season.

Liverpool's form in their last 25 games would suggest a City slip up will spell their doom in the race for the title as Jürgen Klopp’s side has lost just once in that time, a Champions League second leg meeting with Inter at Anfield, a result that did not affect their progress in the competition.

Also, for their remaining games, though some appears tough, only Tottenham Hotspur did Liverpool not beat in the reverse fixture amongst these opponents and even the North Londoners has never win a game at Anfield in the Jürgen Klopp era.

They are also without a win against Liverpool in each of their last nine meetings although as Antonio Conte is also in the run for Champions League football next season, it will surely make the clash a mouthwatering one but Liverpool will still be odds on to come out with the points.

City also have tough games of their own and that starts tonight with the visit of Brighton, who has been pulling upsets in their last two games by beating Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur away from home.

Aside that, City will also play away at West Ham United, who can be unpredictable on their day. A win tonight is a priority for City as any mistake will not be forgiven.

Manchester City did have an outstanding record against the Seagulls, winning nine of their ten meetings with Brighton winning the other one in last season’s 3-2 success at the Amex.
