Premier League Review : Chelsea, City and Liverpool win big in a history-making weekend in the England

The Premier League Matchday nine produced magic moments from collective efforts to individual brilliance. The trio of Mohamed Salah, Mason Mount and Joshua King all bagging hat-trick.

We take a look at the review of how it went down in Europe most prophesied league.

Arsenal 3-1 Aston Villa

Thomas Partey becomes the first Ghanaian to score for Arsenal in the Premier league as The Gooners return to winning ways with their first win over Aston Villa under Mikel Arteta in a 3-1 success on Friday night.

Aubameyang scored from a penalty rebound to double the lead in the added time in first half after Partey's opener. Emile Smith Rowe made it 3-0 to the host, before substitute, Jacob Ramsey denied Aaron Ramsdale a fourth league clean sheet with a well taken effort. 

It ended 3-1 on favour of Arsenal, who are now unbeaten in six league games, after losing each of their three at the start of the season.

Chelsea 7-0 Norwich City

Chelsea kikcoff league action on Saturday, hosting a Norwich City without a win in the league this season. Mason Mount, Calum Hudson-Odoi and Reece James gave The Blues at 3-0 lead at half-time.

Ben Chilwell made it four before Max Aarons put through his own net for 5-0 Chelsea.

Ben Gibson got his marching orders 25 minutes from time and there was time for Mason Mount to score his first Chelsea hat-trick as he scored a penalty as well as in injury time to make it 7-0, their biggest win under Thomas Tuchel.

Crystal Palace 1-1 Newcastle United

Callum Wilson scored in his third Premier League game in a row as his acrobatic effort five minutes after the hour mark restored parity for Newcastle United in a 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace who took the lead nine minutes earlier.

Crystal Palace have now drawn each of their last four games while the visitors, Newcastle United continue the search for their first win of the new season. Graeme Jones, who took over as interim manager after the dismissal of Steve Bruce was on the touchline for Newcastle.

Everton 2-5 Watford

Everton lose at home to Watford for the first time in a Premier League game, as a Joshua King hat-trick helped them come from 2-1 down to win 5-2 on Saturday afternoon.

Claudio Ranieri get his first win as the new Watford manager. It finished 1-1 at half time after Joshua King scored against his former club in the 13th minute to restore parity as the host had taken an early lead in the 3rd minute through Tom Davies.

Richarlison marked his return from injury with a goal that put Everton 2-1 up. Ranieri's tactical changes paid dividends as The Hornets scored four goals in the space of twelve minutes. Emmanuel Dennis registered a couple of assists and scored a goal.

Joshua King scored a couple to complete his hat-trick while their loane from Parma, Kucka also scored a goal as they run out 5-2 winners, their third win in the league this term.

Leeds United 1-1 Wolverhampton Wonderers

Rodrigo scored a late penalty to earn a poing for Leeds United against Wolverhampton Wonderers, who took a ten minute lead through their in form forward, Hee-Chan Hwang in a 1-1 draw at Elland Road.

Southampton 2-2 Burnley

Summer signing Maxwel Cornet scored twice in between Southampton two goals from Tino Livramento and Armando Broja as both sides share the spoilt in a 2-2 draw at the Saint Mary's.

Both sides retain their spot on the log. Southampton with just a win so far while Burnley live to look for their first league win of the season another day.

Brighton 1- 4 Manchester City

Manchester City round up league action on Saturday with late trip to the AMEX. It was all City from the onset and they were already 3-0 up just one minute after the half hour mark thanks to Ilkay Gundogan opener and a Phil Foden double.

Brighton pulled one back nine minutes from time courtesy of Alexis Mac Allister penalty. There was time for substitute Riyad Mahrez to get in on the act later on as Foden pounced on a sloppy defence to set-up the Algerian. It finished 4-1 to City, returning to winning ways against their host, who won 3-2 when both sides met at the same ground last season.

West Ham United 1-0 Tottheham Hotspur

Tottheham Hotspur were beaten by West Ham United in a London derby match on Sunday afternoon. Michail Antonio scored the only goal of the game 18 minutes from time, heading home a corner from Aaron Cresswell.

It was Antonio's sixth career goal against Spurs and it was enough to earn all the points for the host, who move into fourth on standings.

Brentford 1-2 Leicester City

Brentford were beaten at home by Leicester City, meaning the newcomers have not lost each of their last two games in the topflight, straight after their explosive start to the season, which saw them pick up 12 points from their opening seven games.

Youri Tielemans gave the visitors an early lead in the 14th minute, and the host had to wait until the stroke of the hour mark to restore parity. Mathias Jørgensen it was on the end of a corner from his countryman, Mathias Jensen to make it 1-1.

James Maddison gets his first goal of the league season 17 minutes from time, with the ball put on a platter for him by half-time substitute, Patson Daka, and the Foxes held on for the maximum points.

Manchester United 0-5 Liverpool

Manchester United host Liverpool in the curtain drawer for the weekend in the biggest rivalry in the English top-flight. It proved to be another day to forget for the host as they lost 5-0 in front of their home fans.

Mohamed Salah scored a hat-trick, Naby Keita and Diogo Jota also on the score sheet as Paul Pogba saw red in a frustrating evening for the host.

Chelsea maintain their status as the league leaders while Liverpool and Manchester City keep up the chase. Arsenal move into the top ten as just goal difference separate themselves, Leicester City, Everton and Manchester United.

Norwich City, Newcastle United and Burnley remain in search for their first win of the season.


STAT ZONE

Mohamed Salah becomes the first player to score a hat-trick against Manchester United at Old Trafford in the new Premier league era on the evening he becomes the outright all-time top scoring African player in the topflight. (107)

Salah becomes the first Liverpool player to score in three consecutive games at Old Trafford.

The 5-0 result is Liverpool's biggest away win over Manchester United.

Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 25 Premier League games (win 18, draw 7) against 'United' teams, since losing to Manchester United in 2018.

Chelsea have had 17 different Goalscorer across all competitions this season.

Manchester United have earned just eight points from their last seven home games in the premier league (W2 D2 L3) right after earning 16 points in the seven that preceded.

Mohamed Salah becomes the first Liverpool player to score in 10 games in a row across all competitions.
