In his first Clasico, the former Bayern Munich Defender gave the visitors the lead two minutes after the half hour mark, after some tidy footwork by Vinicius Junior, who then send a long cross-field pass to Rodrygo Goes, his fellow countryman then did enough to send the defender through.

Alaba managed to stay onside and took a couple of touches before latching onto the ball into the top right corner to put Real in front few minutes after Sergino Dest spurned a great opportunity to give Barcelona the lead.

The game remained a close contest with both sides had fair share of the possession and couple of opportunities. The score-line however remained the same until the third minute of extra time, when it had became an end to end stuff.

Barcelona missed a chance in the Real Madrid box, and the visitors immediately get the ball upfield. Vazquez took a touch to set Marco Asensio through. His hard low shot across goal was charged down by Ter Stegen, and Vazquez showed more hunger to get to the ball ahead of Jordi Alba to put the rebound into the empty net for 2-0 Real Madrid.

Substitute Sergio Aguero scored in his first Clasico in the last minute of the game for his first Barcelona goal. The Argentine guided home a dangerous cross by Dest but it was little too late as Madrid took all the points, taking them to 20 points from nine league games this season.

Barcelona remained on 15 points and in ninth place, but as Ronald Koeman said before the game; "I'm not scared of El Clásico. The game important, but not definitive", they will now continue to get their season back on track and work with players fresh from return from injuries, while they expect those out to return.

For Real Madrid, it is now five straight Clasico without a loss, and they will be happy with the recent success over their rivals, given the several years of struggle against them.
