Another Newcastle defeat means time to go BIG on Eddie Howe might be about right

Image
Eddie Howe's Newcastle United falled to a sixth defeat in seven games as Nottingham Forest sealed a 3-1 comeback win in the Saint James' Park, adding to their Champions League and Carabao Cup elimination in December while they continue to drop down the Premier League table. Credits to the Englishman, however, he is not in an elite level. A project like Newcastle United's is in a stage where you say thank you very much to Eddie Howe, a bid him farewell. It was a miracle, what the former AFC Bournemouth boss has done in his just more than two years at the helm of affairs in Tyneside and after the club failed to make the statement upon their UEFA Champions League qualification, the time couldn't be more right. Eddie Howe took charge of Newcastle United when the club was deep down the bottom of the Premier League standing and helped them become the first-ever to avoid relegation having not won a single game up until Gameweek 14 in the competition's history. Seems the storm is never getting over for Mauricio Pochettino's side as they sufferer a 4-1 defeat to an impressive Eddie Howe's Newcastle United on Saturday evening. Headed into the game on the back of a 4-Star performance at the Tottenham stadium and the stellar performance against defending champions Manchester City, The blues thought they could have a proper redemption against the Magpies. Alexandar Isak drew the first blood at the 13th minute, then Raheem Sterling responded with a spectacular free kick to draw the visitors level just 10 minutes after going behind. He became the first Chelsea player to score a free-kick in the Premier League since Mason Mount in October 2022 against Aston Villa. At the start of the second half, Chelsea had hoped to hit the front foot but things went the other way as Jamal Lascelles gave the home team the lead for the second time in the match, heading home an Anthony Gordon's cross from the left to make it 2-1. They've created a rivalry of their own, and albeit Manchester City has been more consistent, Liverpool have surely returned to the good days since the start of the season. Now first and second in the league, City and Liverpool resume hostility in the early kickoff on Saturday. In recent times, the meetings between these two have been the most anticipated in the Premier League not only because of the club but the rivalry that has also risen between the manager of each team. Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp have come a long way and have both become two of the best in the job. Aside from the two managers, the players in these teams also stand out in English football. In the last six seasons, winners of the Player of the Season in the Premier League have come from either club. Till date, they still maintain the status as even so far this campaign, Al

Gavi's injury was avoidable but Barcelona chose pride over lessons

Image
Gavi has torn his Anterior cruciate ligaments in Spain's final group game of the European Championship qualifiers against Georgia. It was a game only for the culture as Spain had already secured a place in the finals, and even securing top spot was not so risky because they have the advantage over Scotland, who eventually failed to beat Norway. Gavi, who had started six of the seven games before last night was again in the starting XI, making him the only player to feature in all of the country's eight game of the qualification campaign. At 19, he has been exposed to too much and unnecessary appearances whilst occupying a position where Spain has lot of alternatives, many of them even better players yet have not enjoyed minutes with the National Team. Martin Zubimendi, Oihan Sancet, Aleix Garcia and Mikel Merino were all named on the bench against Georgia, while Rodrigo Riquelme, who made his debut as a substitute against Cyprus could have also been handed a first start.
